Frequently Asked Questions

Is Counselling and Psychotherapy confidential?

Yes, apart from a few extreme exceptions. This is your time to speak as freely as you like without fear of judgement or repercussions, safe in the knowledge that the information given in the session won’t ever leave my practice room.

How do I know if I need therapy?

My counselling and psychotherapy service is suitable for people with a range of mental health issues, such as depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, psychosexual problems, bereavement, or any other issue – both recurring and one off – that you are struggling to cope with on your own. Even if nothing in particular feels wrong but you nonetheless feel uneasy in yourself, I can offer a more counselling-based approach, giving you a space to express your emotions once a week, along with providing solution-based help or longer-term psychotherapy for more complex, deeply rooted mental health issues.

How long does each session last?
  • Sessions last 50 minutes.
Can I speak to my therapist before my first appointment?

If you like, give me a call on 07818701891 for a quick chat before we agree on a time for a first session. If I don’t answer your call, I am most likely with a client, but I will get back to you and arrange a mutually agreeable slot as soon as possible. You can use this call to ask any questions and see whether you’d feel comfortable going forward.

How often should I have sessions?

Generally, I see clients on a weekly basis (same time and day of the week). Some clients whose situation is especially urgent can see me twice a week if they need. On the other hand, you may, over time, feel like a session every fortnight is all you require. It’s up to you.

How do I pay for Counselling sessions?

I accept payment by bank transfer. Details will be in your contract.

Cancellations and/or Non-attendance

I appreciate as much notice as possible when it is needed to cancel an appointment. If you cancel an appointment with less than 72 hours' notice before the appointment, the full session fee is payable.  Wherever possible if I need to cancel an appointment with you, I will give you at least 72 hours' notice.

I am here to give you a safe, confidential, non-judgemental space to work through what’s troubling you and understand the source of issues like depression, anxiety, or psychosexual issues. If you feel like you could benefit from Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy or psychotherapy in Southend-On-Sea and online, give me a call on 07818701891 or email at any time.
